What should I do about my broken iPhone while I’m abroad with AppleCare coverage?

I'm currently in Vietnam and unfortunately, my iPhone 15 Pro is in pretty bad shape—a smashed back and a screen that won't turn on. To get by, I've bought a cheap Android phone for now. I realized I actually have AppleCare+ coverage that I purchased in February 2023, which expires on February 13th. However, I'll be back in the UK on February 15th. There don't seem to be any Apple Stores here in Vietnam, and I'm concerned about the process of getting a replacement phone. If I request a replacement to be sent to my parents' house in the UK right before my coverage expires, I worry that Apple will require the broken phone to be sent back within a week, leaving me in a pinch. It feels a bit wrong to ask for the replacement so close to the expiration date, especially considering the phone has been broken for a while. What are my options?

As someone who works at Apple, I can tell you that if you call support, they might help you extend your coverage or find a workaround for your situation.

Have you reached out to Apple yet? They might have options available for you.

I haven't tried contacting them yet, actually!

If there’s an Apple Store nearby, check if you're covered there. It might give you more flexibility.

I’m in Vietnam, so I don't think there's a store around.

You might want to see if you can extend your AppleCare coverage. That could help with the timing issue you're facing.
