I'm currently working as the system administrator at my company and find myself with a lot of free time. I'm eager to climb the career ladder in sysadmin roles and want to know which essential technologies, programs, and concepts I should focus on learning. I'm particularly interested in widely-used tools in business environments, like Docker, Cloud technologies, Terraform, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks!

It really depends on the kind of sysadmin work you're doing. Are you more focused on Windows, Linux, or cloud systems? Tools like Puppet and Ansible can be really beneficial for anyone, regardless of focus. But if you're leaning towards cloud, familiarize yourself with specific cloud platforms.
For cloud-focused roles, knowing containerization tools would be key!
PowerShell is definitely a must-know for sysadmins. It's incredibly powerful for automating tasks and managing systems, especially in Windows environments.
You can't overlook Linux; it's fundamental for any sysadmin. Also, learning about cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery strategies will really help you stand out.
I'm currently on Windows, but I'm aiming to be a more all-around sysadmin.
