I'm planning to upgrade my GPU to either the RX 6800 or 6750 XT, based on what I can find at the best prices. I'm looking for a suitable AMD CPU to go along with my new GPU. Right now, I'm considering the Ryzen 5600X since it's priced at $122 for me. However, I'm wondering if I should save a bit and opt for the Ryzen 5500 instead, or make the jump to the new AM5 platforms. My main aim is to build this PC for 1080p gaming.

If you already have an AM4 motherboard, I'd recommend going with the Ryzen 5600X. It's a solid choice for gaming and will pair nicely with either GPU you choose. Just make sure your motherboard supports it!
Actually, I'm switching from Intel and need a new motherboard for AMD, which is why I'm torn. Should I stick with AM4 or go for the newer AM5?
