What’s up with the recent changes to Exchange Online RBAC?

I've been really frustrated with the recent changes Microsoft made regarding Exchange Online. They separated Entra ID RBAC from Exchange's own RBAC settings, and now I'm having a tough time managing things in the Exchange online admin portal. Even though I have both the Organization Admin and Exchange Online Admin roles, I can't seem to edit SMTP or Delegation settings for mailboxes. What's going on?

I had a similar issue where the portal didn't recognize that I was elevated to Exchange Admin. Sometimes I had to open an incognito window just to log in right. Maybe you're facing a similar glitch?

Do you still have the Exchange Administrator role assigned to you? Sometimes things can get tricky if there are any changes made behind the scenes.

Yep, I've confirmed I still have it.

Microsoft's changes often seem random. It feels like they make decisions without really considering the impact on users. Have you checked if your roles are marked as Active or Eligible? Sometimes they need to be activated in PIM before you can use them.

Yeah, my roles are definitely active.

You're asking why Microsoft changed something? I don't think even they could give you a straight answer! They tend to make major shifts without much rationale behind it.

Yeah, it’s like they get bored and just decide to mix things up.

Pretty sure they just watch too many Nike commercials or something!
