I'm in the market for a new GPU that will last me around 5-7 years. My main use is playing Counter-Strike 2, but I also dabble in titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Forza Horizon 5, and GTA V. With the upcoming GTA VI on the horizon, I want to ensure my setup is future-proof. I'm planning an upgrade to an AM5 motherboard and a 1440p monitor within a year or two, but I urgently need a GPU since my GTX 1660 Super just died. I also do some video editing on Premiere Pro and Capcut as a side gig, mainly on my MacBook, but since I'm getting more clients, my PC needs to become my main workstation if necessary. My budget is a maximum of $900. Here are the GPU prices I'm considering:
- Zotac RTX 5070 Twin Edge OC 12GB: $716 USD
- Sapphire Pulse 9070 XT 16GB: $895 USD

For your needs, I'd recommend going with the RTX 5070 if you're leaning more towards video editing. It outperforms the 9070 XT in Premiere Pro, even if the 9070 might be slightly better for gaming.
If it's strictly gaming you're after, go with the 9070 XT. But if you plan on doing a mix of gaming and editing (and maybe AI work in the future), the 5070 is a better fit overall.
Prices really are rough these days! But I’d still say take the 5070. It tends to be better for content creation tasks as well as gaming.
Yeah, and don’t forget that with video editing, sometimes having a faster CPU and decent RAM can make more difference than the GPU itself!
