Hey everyone! I'm looking to install a new hard drive in an Acer GX-781 that I got from a family member. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a hard drive, and I'm a bit lost on what type I need. Is there a specific one I should be looking for, or can I choose from various options as long as they have certain specs? I know this PC is a bit older, so while I don't expect it to run the latest heavy games like Genshin Impact, I'd love to play something like The Sims on it. I really appreciate any help you can give me since I'm totally new to this, and English isn't my first language, so sorry if I mess up any terms!

Any SATA drive should work just fine for you. If you're considering speed, 2.5" SATA SSDs are a great option and are available, though they might be a bit less common than regular hard disks.
I recommend getting an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive. Most PCs from the last 20 years can support 2.5" SATA SSDs. Just make sure to check if your Acer can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs, which are more modern but may not work with older models.
Thanks for the info! Do you think a Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD is suitable? It seems similar to what was in there before...
Nah, that one won't work because you need a SATA M.2 SSD instead of an NVMe. They look similar, but the connection types are different. A 2.5" SSD would also be a good fit. You can check out this list for compatible options.
