Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my PC. A friend helped me build it back in 2021 on a budget, but it's starting to struggle, especially with CSGO. The game is lagging, loading skins takes ages, and I keep getting kicked from servers. Plus, trying to open anything else causes crashes. I want to keep costs low but still want a decent performance boost. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F
- RAM: 16 GB
- SSD: 1 TB
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super
Is it possible to upgrade without doing a full rebuild? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

How full is your hard drive? If it's nearly full, that could slow things down too. From what you've shared, your specs should handle CSGO, but definitely monitor which part is struggling the most during gameplay. That'll guide your next steps!
I agree with the others. Installing a monitoring tool to see what’s under stress (CPU, GPU, Memory) can really help. You could consider upgrading to an i7 or an i9 if you want more power, but honestly, for just gaming, a better GPU might do the trick and keep costs down!
Hey! So first off, it seems like your CPU could be the bottleneck since you’re mostly gaming. The i5-10400F is decent but depending on how full your drive is and what’s being taxed during gameplay, it might be worth upgrading that. If you're mostly stuck on CSGO, you might just need a new GPU, but make sure to check your task manager to see if anything else is maxed out!
Yeah, if your GPU is maxed out while gaming, that's definitely an issue. Upgrading to something like a GTX 3060 could be a good option for a nice performance boost!
