I blocked a number on my iPhone, but new texts from it still appear marked as blocked. Does RCS change how blocking works, and is there a way to stop seeing these messages?
Why am I still seeing texts from a number I blocked?
Answers
If the messages are labeled as blocked, that suggests the block is taking effect. The phone may still show the messages in a blocked or filtered area, even though they should not alert you normally. Check that areaโs notification settings if the messages are still bothering you.

RCS by itself does not mean someone can bypass a block. Blocking behavior can depend on the iPhoneโs software and how the message is delivered, so update iOS and restart the phone if the messages are behaving unexpectedly. Turning RCS off is an available setting, but it may not stop messages from this specific number.

Check the conversationโs contact details and confirm the exact number is blocked. If the sender is using a different number or caller ID, you may need to block that one too. You can also report the messages as junk if that option appears.

If you only want fewer interruptions, make sure notifications from blocked or filtered senders are disabled. Donโt reply to messages you donโt want to continue, and save any unwanted messages if you may need a record later.
