I'm facing a frustrating issue with the new Outlook app and my Microsoft 365 account. I've been an annual subscriber of Office 365 for a long time without any major problems, but when I decided to switch to the new Outlook app, I hit a wall. I can log in to my Microsoft account and all my Office suite apps without a hitch, and I can even access my IMAP accounts in the new Outlook. The issue is when I try to log in using my M365 subscription.
Whenever I enter my email and either my password or Windows 11 PIN, I get a message saying, 'Your account is temporarily locked to prevent misuse...' The error code I see is 'INVALIDCREDENTIALS CANCEL.' It's puzzling because my password works perfectly for my Microsoft account and webmail, so it seems odd that there would be a lockout issue.
I've tried changing my password and logging out across all devices, but that hasn't helped. I even tried logging in on two different Windows 11 PCs on the same home network, but I still encounter the same problem. I checked for any suspicious activity prompts when logging into my account but didn't find anything. I'm at a loss and considering giving remote access to a Microsoft support agent, but I'd love to hear if anyone has any suggestions before I go that route!

Have you tried resetting your password again? Sometimes, even if it seems like it's working, there might be a glitch associated with the account holding things up. It can help to reset it via the official Microsoft site instead of through the app. Also, ensure that your Windows is fully updated; sometimes, the app requires the latest version.
Just a thought: if you’re trying to log into a third-party email account via Outlook, that might be where the snag is happening. Outlook might expect certain settings or permissions to connect properly. I’d recommend checking the account setup in Outlook to make sure everything’s configured correctly.
It sounds like you’ve done a lot already. Before handing over control to support, I’d suggest clearing your cache and trying again. Sometimes, stored data can cause these types of issues. Give it a shot and see if that changes anything!
