I recently created a brand-new AWS account, but attempts to register a domain through the domain service are being blocked. The message suggests this may be a security or account-verification restriction, so I opened a support case as instructed. However, the case has not received a response yet. Is this normal for new accounts, and is there a way to get the issue reviewed more quickly?

New accounts can be restricted from domain registration while AWS completes security and account verification checks. Make sure your email, phone number, payment method, and account details are fully verified, then include the exact error and requested domain in the support case. There usually isn’t an instant workaround for a security hold.
The fastest practical route is to keep the existing case updated with all relevant details rather than opening several duplicate tickets. If the domain is needed urgently, you could register it through another registrar and connect it to AWS later.
If you’re using the free support tier, response times can be slow and access to account-level assistance is limited. A paid support plan may provide faster case handling, but it still won’t guarantee that AWS will approve domain registration immediately.
