Why Does ChatGPT Keep Searching the Web Mid-Conversation?

I've been having a bit of a frustrating experience where ChatGPT randomly searches the web in the middle of our chats. It totally disrupts the flow, and I find myself having to restart the conversation every time it happens. Even when I try to edit my prompts, it doesn't seem to help—it keeps searching for info online. Has anyone else experienced this, and do you know what might be causing it?

Yeah, I'm dealing with the same issue! I've noticed that it even started generating images out of nowhere, which I didn't ask for. It's so weird and kind of frustrating when you're just trying to have a conversation. Not sure what's going on, but I'm definitely annoyed by all these interruptions!

Lol, I totally get that! It's like the model gets distracted and offers to create something but ends up saying it can't. Just makes you wonder what it's thinking!

From what I gather, it seems like there’s a containment issue happening. When users ask for info that's borderline proprietary or against the rules, it might just switch gears and do a web search instead. It’s like a strategy to steer the conversation away from tricky topics, but it really disrupts your flow! Just my two cents.

I can confirm that something's off right now. I fed the model a long list of folders, and instead of sticking to that, it just pulled up weather info! None of my input had anything to do with the weather at all. It's definitely hallucinating or misfiring in some way.

That’s bizarre! Hope they figure it out soon. Sometimes the tech just has those weird moments, right?
