Why does my new 5070 graphics card keep making my screen go black?

I just upgraded from a 2060 to a 5070 graphics card, and I'm having some trouble. My PC powers up, shows a hyphen in the corner, goes to the Windows login screen, but then the screen goes black after about 10 to 20 seconds, even though the fans are still running. I've tried setting the PCIe to Gen 3 and even removed the battery from the motherboard to reset it. Here are my specs: i5 10400f, EVGA 650w PSU, B460 Aorus motherboard, and 16GB of RAM. What could be going wrong?

It sounds like your PSU might be underpowered, but since you're using a 650W unit, it should theoretically handle the load for a 5070. However, they recommend a 750W PSU for the Ti versions, so that might be the confusion. Try setting your PCIe to the max Gen (which would be 4 or 5) in the BIOS as well. That could help optimize performance.

Actually, for the 5070, 650W should be sufficient. It's important to ensure the PCIe settings are correct, like you mentioned. But I wouldn't panic just yet about the PSU.

It might not be a PSU issue since you're not hitting high loads when the screen goes black. Start by checking if your motherboard's BIOS is up-to-date. Then, manually setting your PCIe speeds could help. If all else fails, boot into Windows Safe Mode to see if the issue is with your drivers or other software during the startup process.
