I've been having an annoying issue with my PC. It randomly freezes when I play Halo MCC. I've done a lot of troubleshooting, so here's what I've figured out so far:
- I've stressed both my CPU and GPU using Prime95 and Furmark, and their temperatures are normal.
- The memory passed testing with Memtest.
- My BIOS is up to date.
- I've replaced several components like the RAM, CPU, PSU, and motherboard, but I still haven't changed the SSD or GPU. The GPU I have is used.
The only significant error I encountered was a BSOD (blue screen of death) with the code 0x00000124, indicating a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR caused by the ntoskrnl.exe driver.
Here are my current specs:
- EVGA RTX 3060 GPU
- CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM
- MSI MAG A550BN Gaming Power Supply (550W, 80 Plus Bronze Certified)
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- Crucial P3 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD

It sounds like you've tried a lot already! One thing that could help is checking for dump files from those BSODs; they might give us clues about what's going wrong. If you're able to boot into Windows normally or through Safe Mode, look in C:WindowsMinidump for any files. If you find some, zip them up and upload them to a file sharing site. This could really aid in diagnosing the problem better!
Have you checked if you have anything overclocked? Somebody I know faced a similar issue, and turning off their overclocking fixed it. Also, you might want to do a health check on your SSD to make sure everything's good there.
Did you happen to look for any dump files in C:Windowsminidump or C:WindowsLiveKernelReports? Having those files can be super useful for figuring out what’s causing these freezes.
