Why is my FPS dropping when I run Spotify while gaming?

I've been dealing with a frustrating issue for about two months now. Whenever I try to play Spotify while gaming, my FPS halves, which really affects my performance. It's not just Spotify, though—if I have anything besides Discord open on my second monitor, even an idle web browser, my gaming FPS drops drastically and gets really stuttery. Here are my specs for reference: RX 7800 XT, Ryzen 7 5700X, and 32GB of GDDR4 RAM. Any ideas on what's going on?

It could also be a GPU acceleration issue, or it might be worth checking your temps. Sometimes, if your ventilation isn’t great, it can affect performance too! 😅

Have you checked for any background processes running? Sometimes other programs can sneak in and use resources without you noticing.

I checked, and there’s nothing out of the ordinary going on. My CPU, GPU, and RAM usage all look pretty low.

You might have hardware acceleration enabled in Spotify, which can take some resources from your games. Remember, using multiple monitors usually causes a slight performance drop as the GPU is handling both displays, so it's expected to see some impact. However, it shouldn't be that severe!

This is exactly what I'm experiencing. A small playback shouldn't cause that, right?

Yeah, I get that, but Spotify typically doesn’t use that many resources. It’s weird that just playing a song would lead to such a big drop in performance.
