I've got an Asus X515 and the fan just won't stop running, no matter what I do. I've tried turning it off and leaving it for a couple of hours, and I've cleared all my Windows settings. The annoying part is that it starts up during class and everyone turns to look at me! The CPU and GPU aren't even hot. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you checked your energy schedule? Try switching to energy-efficient settings; it might help reduce the fan noise too.
Is the bottom of your laptop getting hot to the touch? If it feels warmer than usual, that could be a sign of an issue.
Check your BIOS settings! There might be an option for fan control; you can set it to automatic instead of always on. That might help cool things down a bit and silence the fan during those awkward class moments.
I agree, adjusting the BIOS settings can really help!
Sometimes the problem is with the power supply pulling in air from the bottom. Make sure there's enough clearance underneath the laptop; that could be causing the fan to work overtime.
Hey, thanks! I tried it and it actually worked!
