I'm thinking about buying a 12GB RX 6700 XT graphics card and I want to know if it will be sufficient for gaming over the next decade. Are there any other video card options that will stay relevant for that long?

If you're aiming for a card that might last a decade, keep in mind that all GPUs will eventually become outdated. However, some have more longevity than others. A 12GB card like the 6700 XT should handle 1080p gaming well for several years, but as game requirements evolve, you might find it lacking. In practice, most people find that their needs dictate how long a card stays viable.

True! I’ve been using older cards and they still perform for my casual gaming, so it really depends on what you want to play.

The concept of 'obsolete' can vary a lot. The RX 6700 XT has been around for a few years and while it might still perform decently for current games, it’s hard to say how future titles will handle it. Ultimately, your experience will depend on what kind of performance you find acceptable.

Exactly! Some games may be tough to run, but if you're okay with lower settings, it could last a while.

There's no sure way to predict GPU longevity. As games become more demanding, a standard like 12GB VRAM might become the bare minimum. Maybe consider getting the latest generation cards for better features and longevity. They might be more suited for prolonged use down the line.

Right, the current trend suggests you want more VRAM for future-proofing your setup.
