I recently got a new iPhone and I plan to trade in my old one. However, I'm having trouble signing out of my Apple ID on the old phone, and I want to reset it for selling. If I use the 10-password attempt lock option, will it prevent me from using my current phone or any other devices still connected to my Apple ID?

If you're having trouble signing out of your Apple ID because you forgot the password, it's worth noting that entering the wrong password ten times won't sign you out. Instead, it will just lock the phone. If you've lost the password completely, the only way to reset this is to contact Apple with your original purchase receipt.

That's actually what happened to me! I set a restriction for my kids and totally forgot the password, so I couldn't sign out either.
