I'm preparing to upgrade my GPU from a 1070 to a 3060 Ti, which feels like a significant leap for me. I want to run some benchmarks before and after the upgrade to compare performance, as I find that pretty fun. What are the best free tools to do this?

Buying a card that’s been out for 5 years and calling it an upgrade? Seriously?
Trust fund kid spotted!
I've had great luck with 3DMark's demo and Unigine Superposition. You might also want to look into downloadable game benchmarks like those from Monster Hunter Wilds, Black Myth, SF6, FF14 & 15, and Forza Horizon 4 demo.
You should definitely check out 3DMark Time Spy for a good benchmark! It's a popular choice and offers solid results.
Consider using Furmark and BurnInTest as well. They’re pretty reliable for stress testing. Also, you can use any game you already own to see how performance changes.
By every definition, it is an upgrade lol. I don't need to compete with others to feel good about my choices.
