Hey everyone! I just moved into a basement that I'm renting and got WiFi installed, with one modem down here and another upstairs. I found an Ethernet outlet in my room and I'm wondering if connecting my laptop to that outlet would give me a direct connection to the WiFi I just set up.

To check if you can access the WiFi router through that outlet, try to connect to your WiFi and see if you can access the router's control panel via your browser. If you're able to reach it when connected to the LAN as well, that means you're on the same network. If not, you might be out of luck! Let me know if you have any questions about that.
It really depends on where that Ethernet line connects. It might not even be hooked up to anything at the other end or could be wired to something else like a phone line. Just plug into it and see if it works!
Looks like it’s one of those ‘find out and see’ situations! I’ll give it a shot.
