Could Cracks on My Laptop Be a Swollen Battery?

Hey everyone! I just spotted some cracks on my HP Pavilion x360 and I'm really worried. I can't open it until tomorrow, and the thought of it exploding is freaking me out! From what I've read, the swollen batteries for my laptop model don't look that bad. I've been using my laptop without the fans propped up, and it tends to get pretty hot on my mousepad, which makes me think that might be the cause. I shot a quick video of the back of my laptop and uploaded it to Imgur to share. I'd appreciate any help identifying if this is a swollen battery or just some damage to the cover. Thanks in advance! Oh, and I'll update if anything crazy happens tomorrow!

It looks like the case is bulging, which usually means you've got a swollen battery on your hands. It's a good idea not to turn it on or plug it in until you can check it out. The good news is that your laptop will still work without the battery as long as it's plugged into the AC!

Thank you so so much! This helps a lot! So, if I don’t unplug it, does that mean the battery is pretty much useless now?
