I'm in the process of creating a startpage for my browser as a project, and I'm actually enjoying it a lot! I've dabbled in programming here and there over the years, but I always struggled with staying motivated without something to build. Now, I have a project I really need to finish, but I'm relying heavily on documentation, other people's code, and sometimes asking AI for help when I hit a wall. While I'm grasping about 70% of what I'm doing, I only feel like I'm retaining around 40% of the knowledge. I'm worried that I'm not learning the right way. Is this project-based learning approach sustainable for me moving forward, or should I be focusing on tutorials instead?

You're doing just fine! Learning in this hands-on way is totally valid. It’s all about constant learning and referring back to resources as you go. Don't worry if you don't remember everything; that's just part of the process.
It's completely okay if you don’t retain everything. What's important is that you understand the core concepts. If you hit a roadblock, it’s normal to look things up or refer to your previous projects. Just keep practicing and focus on understanding the parts you're using!
Thanks! I’ll definitely try to spend more time understanding the parts I find tricky.
