Hey everyone! I had a little accident with my water bottle, and it spilled all over my backpack, affecting my MacBook. The laptop seems to work fine, but there's this weird gleam on the screen as if the water is still present. What can I do to fix it? Also, I'm a student and can't afford expensive repairs right now; will I need to budget for soup dinners? Any advice would be super helpful!

First off, definitely turn your laptop off right away and let it dry out for at least 24 hours. Whatever you do, don’t just put it to sleep; make sure it’s completely shut down. If it still has issues after that, you might want to take it to a professional repair shop.
Did you turn it on right after it got wet? That's not a good idea! Let it sit completely shut for about 24 to 48 hours before trying to power it on again. That’s the best way to avoid further damage.
I would recommend placing it somewhere warm and sunny for a couple days. That might help with the moisture, and if it still works fine after, just keep using it as is!
If it comes down to it, consider what you're using your laptop for. You might find it cheaper to grab a decent second-hand HP ProBook or something similar from eBay for around £100. Just a thought!
