My Laptop Won’t Boot to Windows After Draining the Battery – Help!

Hey everyone! I recently replaced my laptop's battery and was advised to fully drain and recharge it 4-5 times to calibrate the new battery. I did that, but on the fifth drain, I left the laptop unplugged and powered on while I stepped out. When I came back, my laptop had powered off. After plugging it back in, I tried to boot it up, but it just flashed the screen and went into startup repair. I've already tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps:

- Uninstalled the latest quality update
- Changed the BIOS to boot from my secondary drive (which has Windows too)
- Swapped back to my old battery
- Tried starting it up without the battery
- Tested one RAM stick at a time in the main DIMM slot to check for faulty RAM

None of this has worked, and I've even checked the boot SSD on another PC; it's fine. I can access the BIOS, but I'm curious if clearing the CMOS would help. Any thoughts on whether the battery drain could have damaged something on the motherboard, or could it be another issue? Thanks!

It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already! A clean install might be a worthwhile option to fully rule out any software issues, even if you've booted from known working drives. Since you have a Linux distro on a USB, try booting from that. If it doesn’t work either, it could point towards a hardware issue. If you're looking to pinpoint what's failing, you might need diagnostic tools or specialized equipment, but sometimes it's just easier to swap out components if you can.

Yeah, testing with the Linux USB is a smart move. If it fails, you can be pretty sure something's up with the hardware. Just be careful when you're in there; if you have issues with the motherboard, certain components might behave strangely.
