Help! My iPhone is Stuck in Recovery Mode After Updating to iOS 26

I upgraded my iPhone 11 to iOS 26 without doing much research, and now it's stuck in recovery mode. I fixed my screen recently, so I'm not sure if that caused the issue or if it's related to the update itself. I didn't back up my phone, so I'm worried about losing my photos. I tried updating it through iTunes, but I keep getting error 68. I'd really appreciate any advice on how to get my phone updated instead of restoring it, unless restoring is my only option.

You might want to try performing a DFU restore as a last resort. Some people have found success there. It's more about fixing things rather than just updating, but it might be your best bet if nothing else is working.

I had a similar problem! Try looking up how to put your iPhone into DFU mode; it might help you get things back on track. Just a heads up, though, it usually leads to restoring, not updating.

If your phone is in recovery mode, you typically can’t update it directly. You'll probably need to restore it instead, since something went wrong with the update that corrupted the system. Sometimes people get lucky and can update to fix the recovery issue, but if iTunes is only giving you the restore option, that might be your only way out.
