I'm about to build my first PC, but I don't have an anti-static mat or any specialized anti-static gear like gloves or wrist straps. I came across a video that warned about being cautious with the right tools, including concerns about using magnetic screwdrivers. However, I'm planning to go ahead with what I have, using a magnetized screwdriver set and working on a clean wooden table. Is there any real risk I need to be aware of, or can I safely proceed without these tools?

I'd say magnetic screwdrivers are really helpful! They save you a lot of hassle. Just remember to touch a metal part of the case before you start handling components to discharge any static buildup.
It's definitely better to have the right gear, but it's not strictly necessary. Just be careful about the angles when you're screwing stuff in.
How often should I do that? Only once at the start or every time I touch something?
