Why did my phone show the wrong time after turning it back on?

I just turned on my 16e after it being off for several hours, and the time on the locked screen was 11:40. A minute later, it changed to 10:15, which is what the world clock showed for my time zone. My phone is set to my city's time zone, I'm running version 18.4.1, and I still have 100 GB of storage left since it's a new phone. This whole thing was super strange, especially since the time switched from 11:40 directly to 10:15 instead of a more logical 11:15. Plus, later on, I noticed the time numbers in the top corner of the screen distorted for a second like they were melting before returning to normal. Has anyone else faced this issue or have any idea what happened? And just to clarify, I haven't done any drugs and I have a carbon monoxide detector, so no worries there!

When you first power on your phone, it can show past images of data screens instead of live data. However, your case is a bit unusual. It does sound like a time-sync issue with the cellular network, which can happen from time to time.

First, have you tried updating to version 18.5? It could fix any minor bugs that might be causing this issue. Also, try not to stress over things like this; phones have quirks sometimes!

I appreciate the suggestion! I'll check for updates. But I really just want to understand what's happening with the time.

It's probably just a glitch related to the cellular tower connection. Sometimes when the phone boots up, it may sync with a tower that's not configured correctly, leading to weird time readings. It's usually nothing to worry about, just a little hiccup in the network.
