Best Position for Exhaust Fans Above and Behind CPU Cooler?

I'm trying to set up my PC cooling system and I need some advice on positioning my exhaust fans. I have two exhaust fans: one above and one behind the CPU air cooler tower. I want to make sure they're positioned correctly so they don't disrupt the airflow created by the CPU cooler's fans. I already have three intake fans in the front of the case.

For the top, rear exhaust fan, I can place it in three ways: (1) at the rear-most position, where half of it extends towards the back of the case, or (2) at the forward-most position, where it's almost directly over the cooler, with just a bit hanging over the back, or (3) anywhere in between.

For the behind, rear exhaust fan, I have similar options: (1) I can position it high so a third of it is above the CPU cooler, or (2) I can set it lower so it's flush with the top of the CPU cooler, or (3) again, anything in between.

What combination of positions do you recommend? Thanks in advance!

I think for the top, rear exhaust fan, placing it almost directly over the CPU cooler (option 2) would be the best choice. It helps to remove hot air as it rises right from the cooler. For the behind, rear exhaust fan, I'd suggest going for the highest position (option 1) to allow hot air to escape more effectively. Makes sense, right?

Totally agree! Having that top fan directly above is smart since hot air rises. For the other, positioning it higher makes it easier for hot air to gather and be expelled.

I see your point about hot air rising, and that’s why I’d recommend both exhaust fans positioned far back and high up. So that means for the top, go with the rear-most position (option 1) and for the back, the highest position (option 1) too. This way, the hot air can’t linger near the CPU cooler.
