Are Cable Matters CPU and 24-Pin MoBo Extensions Safe to Use?

I'm having some trouble getting my CPU and 24-pin motherboard cables to reach where they need to connect. The stock CPU cables from my PSU aren't long enough for a clean installation. Can I safely use 12-inch CPU cable extensions with the stock PSU cables? Also, for the 24-pin motherboard connector, I can only make it reach the power slot if I route it through a lower exit slot; however, I prefer to go through the upper exit slot. Is it okay to add a 12-inch extension to the stock 24-pin cable? I'm confident that other cables like the PCIe power cables will reach the GPU without extensions, and the front I/O connectors are fine too since they're designed for the case.

Yeah, as long as the extensions are good quality and not from a sketchy brand, they should be totally fine to use. Alternatively, you might want to look into getting longer cables directly from the manufacturer for a cleaner setup. That’s probably the route I’d go.

That sounds good! My PSU is a Seasonic Prime-TX. Should I just check the Seasonic website for longer CPU and MoBo cables? I’ll also reach out to their support to see what options they recommend.

I'd recommend going with AsiaHorse for the extensions. I'm not too sure about the ezdiy-fab brand since they have fewer reviews. Given how crucial the motherboard and CPU connections are, it's better to stick with reputable brands for peace of mind!

Extensions are definitely designed for this kind of situation. Just a tip though: try to keep them as short as you can; longer cables can be a hassle to manage behind the case.

I found that 12-inch extensions are the shortest on Amazon for the CPU and 24-pin cables. To manage my excess length, I usually loop the cable over itself to keep things tidy. But I’m worried that won’t work well for the 24-pin since that cable is pretty thick.
