I just got a new laptop and transferred files from my old laptop's SSD by using an enclosure. I dragged over music, photos, and saved app settings, but now that I've put the SSD back into the new laptop, none of my files are showing up. When I boot the new laptop, I can't find any of the files I transferred. I even had to change permissions just to access the folders, but still, there's nothing inside them. I don't think the files were encrypted, so I'm really confused about what's going wrong. Can anyone help me figure this out?

It sounds like you might need to try switching the process around. Remove the old SSD, put it back in the enclosure, and then copy the files again directly to your new laptop's drive. It's possible that the way you did the transfer initially didn't work for some reason. Just a heads up, if you have extra files on your old HDD, you might need to find another way to access those since you don’t have an enclosure for it right now. Good luck!
That makes sense. I guess the direct copy could help avoid issues. Maybe check if your old HDD can be connected via USB somehow without a full enclosure?
