Why did my PC stop working after upgrading RAM?

Hey everyone! I need some urgent help. I have a B450M Steel Legend motherboard and was previously using a single stick of Asgard 8GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM. Today, I tried to upgrade to two new Corsair Vengeance LPX sticks (2x16GB, also DDR4 3600MHz). I installed both sticks in the second and fourth slots (A2 and B2), but now my PC powers on without any display. It stays on for about 40 seconds, then begins this weird on/off loop. I even put the old RAM back in, but it's doing the same thing without any display. Did I do something wrong? I'm totally at a loss! 😢

It sounds like your PC might be doing memory training. Sometimes after a RAM upgrade, it requires a little time to configure everything correctly. I suggest you walk away from it for a bit and let it sort itself out. Just give it a few minutes and see if it clears up!

Yep! It can be a bit scary if you're not familiar with it. Just step away and let it work its magic.

Should I leave both new sticks in during this memory training, or just one? Just want to make sure I'm handling it right!

If you’re still having issues, try removing the RAM sticks and clearing the CMOS. Then, reinstall the RAM. If it still doesn’t boot, it might be best to return the Corsair RAM and try something else.

How exactly do I clear the CMOS?
