Why is my computer asking for parental permission to use Opera?

I'm having a strange issue with my computer. It's suddenly requiring parental permission to use Opera, but I've never set up any Microsoft family features. I attempted to change the settings to stop needing permission, but now I can't open Opera at all. Just to clarify, this is my personal computer, and nobody else has ever used it. I don't visit sketchy websites or anything. This issue seems to be happening only with Opera GX.

It sounds like you might be running into some of those annoying Microsoft restrictions they have in place. I've read that some users are experiencing similar issues, not just with Opera but also with other browsers like Chrome due to parental controls. Have you checked your family safety settings in your Microsoft account? That might give you some clues on how to fix this!

Thanks for the tip! I wouldn't have thought to check my account settings. I’ll look into that for sure.
