Hey everyone! So, I've already upgraded most of my PC build last year, but I've been holding off on getting a new GPU until now. Right now, I have a 2070 Super paired with an i5-14600KF and I'm gaming at 1440p on a 165Hz monitor. Lately, I've been feeling that the 2070 Super is starting to limit my performance in competitive shooters. I'm considering the 5070, which is priced at $550, but I'm torn on whether it's the right time to make the upgrade. Should I jump in now with the 5070, which has 12GB of VRAM, or hold out for the 9070 or 9070 XT, which come with 16GB of VRAM? Would appreciate any thoughts!

I’d recommend getting at least 16GB of VRAM if you can. It’ll give you more longevity with future titles, especially if you play competitive games.
Honestly, your GPU is getting a bit old. If you’re looking to keep a new GPU for around six years, it might be best to hold out for a card with 16GB of VRAM. I foresee that 12GB will start to struggle a few years down the line just like 8GB is today.
What do you think about the 5070ti though? Does it have enough to last?
Yeah, keeping the 2070 Super for a collectible is a good idea!
Check out Newegg’s trade-in program! You can score a discount on a new GPU if you trade in your old one. Just a thought if you’re looking to save some bucks!
Thanks for the tip! But I'm thinking of keeping my founders edition 2070 Super as a collectible.
I think the 5070 will be a solid upgrade over the 2070, but timing is tricky with GPUs. Prices are all over the place right now, but if you find one at MSRP, it might be worth it. Just keep in mind that the VRAM could become an issue sooner than later.
Absolutely, I’m also keeping an eye on when the prices go down. Sales tax is a killer too!
9070 XT might be a better choice if you can snag it for MSRP, but be ready for a higher price. If the 5070ti catches your eye, watch for those deals at Best Buy—they had some good drops recently!
I think 12GB should be enough for now, honestly.
