Hey everyone! I've built a few Intel PCs, but I'm new to AMD. A friend of mine is having issues with either their motherboard or CPU — we can't really figure out which one it is, but I know the PSU is working fine. I'm on the lookout for a budget-friendly CPU and motherboard combo that supports PCIe 4.0, ideally around $300 AUD. I have two sticks of DDR4 RAM and a cooler that I can reuse, so I just need the CPU and motherboard. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You should definitely check out PCPartPicker and set the region to Australia. It’s a great way to find deals and see what fits your budget. Happy building!
In Canada, you could score a Gigabyte B550M motherboard paired with a Ryzen 5 5500 or 5600 for about that price. Not sure how prices compare in Australia, but that would be a solid combo for your needs!
Actually, that’s the combo I was looking at! I thought it was PCIe 3, though. Better double-check. Thanks!
Yeah, I just need to get more familiar with AMD parts, but thanks for the tip!
