We're a mid-sized company that's mostly remote and expanding quickly. One of our main IT challenges is managing laptops and accessories — from shipping them to new hires, keeping track of who has what, to retrieving everything during offboarding. It's becoming increasingly difficult to streamline this process without wasting a lot of time and effort. Right now, we're still relying on spreadsheets, manual shipping, and a disorganized inventory. I'm really curious how others are handling IT asset procurement and recovery in a more efficient way. Have you found any tools, services, or processes that work well? Thanks for any tips!

You might want to look at Workwize if you're in the same boat. We started using it recently and it has really helped. They manage everything from sourcing and shipping laptops to handling returns and storage after someone leaves. It's been a game-changer for us to move away from spreadsheets and manual checks. The platform is user-friendly, and their support is pretty responsive too, which is a plus!
Setting up laptops for new hires can actually be pretty smooth, similar to in-office setups, but keep shipping times in mind. I’ve learned to avoid last-minute requests; if someone doesn’t give ample notice, they may end up without a computer for days. For getting laptops back, I generally leave that to HR. It's part of the termination process to ensure equipment is returned, and if not, I just flag it to the asset team as possibly stolen.
I’m just following this thread. Can I really trust all these suggestions? Feels like there might be a lot of ads mixed in.
Definitely skeptical...

Absolutely, some of these posts come off like ads. Just be cautious.
