Looking for Laptop Recommendations for Backend Development on Zorin OS

I'm mostly using my desktop for heavy gaming on Windows, but I want to get a laptop for backend development, specifically to run Zorin OS. I plan to use applications like VSCode, Docker, and IntelliJ IDEs, and I might do some very light gaming too.

I'm considering the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Gen 8 with an Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD, as it seems to fit my needs. However, my budget is around €550, but I can go up to €700 for a better option. I'm concerned about using Docker, so I want to make sure I have enough RAM in the long run, especially since this one has soldered RAM.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- Minimum 15-inch monitor size
- 500GB storage if upgradable, or 1TB if it's soldered
- A good quality screen to avoid eye strain
- At least 16GB RAM, and it would be great if it's replaceable
- I'll primarily use a mouse, so the touchpad's functionality is less important.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Have you thought about a ThinkPad with an AMD processor? They are generally well-supported on Linux and can offer great performance for development purposes.

Lenovo typically has good options, but always double-check the Wi-Fi card compatibility because that's often an issue. Here's a link that can help you verify drivers: [Kernel Wireless Drivers](https://wireless.docs.kernel.org/en/latest/en/users/drivers.html). Asus could also be an alternative, and if you're up for it, check out Framework laptops as they support Linux well, although they might be a bit pricey for your budget.

You might want to consider getting a second-hand ThinkPad. They're business-grade laptops and tend to be more Linux-friendly compared to consumer models like the IdeaPad. ThinkPads have a good reputation for reliability, and I've been using them for over 20 years without buying a new one. Check the specs that fit your needs, and here's a link to get you started with some good options.

Would a Lenovo V15 Gen 4 work for you? It's around your price point and has a 15" screen. I don't mind getting a new one as the second-hand market isn't great where I live.

Absolutely, the V15 Gen 4 could be a solid option! Just make sure to verify the specs align with your requirements.
