Help! Fresh Windows Install with Graphics Driver Issues and Frequent Crashes

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and need some help with my computer. Recently, I was experiencing random crashes with my Opera GX browser, which led to multiple blue screens over a few days. I tried everything—clearing the cache, removing extensions, reinstalling the browser, and running all Windows diagnostics, which did find and fix some corrupted files. Eventually, I decided to reset my PC and wipe everything, but during the installation phase, I hit a loop of errors. After making a boot drive and troubleshooting, I got a new SSD, which finally allowed Windows to install.

Now that Windows is up and running, I'm having problems with my graphics drivers. I've tried installing them through the NVIDIA app and manually, but both methods fail, often causing blue screens or freezes. I still get random crashes and blue screens every few minutes. I've reseated the RAM and GPU, swapped out for old RAM sticks, and even replaced the SSD. I've never had issues like this before! Here are my specs: Intel i9 13700, GeForce 3080, 2TB M.2 SSD, MSI motherboard, 750W PSU, and 32GB RAM.

Any ideas on how to fix these problems? My computer is pretty much unusable right now!

Given your new SSD and fresh install, it’s odd you’d have virus issues. Still, it might be worth running additional scans with tools like Malwarebytes just to be sure. Sometimes, the default Windows security can miss things. It’s possible something slipped through during setup. Stay vigilant about re-linking any cloud files too, as they can sync files if you inadvertently have something stored.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating situation! First, if you can boot into Windows, check for crash dump files in C:WindowsMinidump. These files can provide insight into the blue screen issues and help diagnose what’s going wrong. Zip those files and upload them to a file sharing site since some users in the community will want to see them to provide more specific help. If you're not finding any dump files, you might want to follow a guide to adjust your system's settings for small memory dumps, as that can sometimes yield better diagnostics.

I’d recommend resetting your BIOS to default settings. Sometimes, wrong configurations can lead to these types of issues, especially after a fresh install. Make sure there are no secondary drives connected and check if you have the latest BIOS and Intel drivers installed, particularly with your CPU. Windows usually installs basic graphics drivers automatically, but you might want to try downloading the latest NVIDIA drivers directly from their website instead of using the app.

Resetting the BIOS did help reduce blue screens in my case! I also noticed that keeping everything updated was key. And, hey, if you can, make sure to check for any diagnostics on your motherboard—those light codes might give you more clues.
