How Long Will the i9 9900K Hold Up for Streaming?

I'm eyeing a local deal for an i9 9900K and a Z390 motherboard going for $160. Given that I do a lot of streaming, I'm wondering how much longer this combo will be good for in terms of performance. Right now, I'm using an i7 6700, which handles everything pretty well, but it struggles a bit when streaming. I'd also like some advice on whether I need a bigger heatsink or power supply for it as I currently have a 600-watt PSU. Any thoughts on this would help!

The i9 9900K will definitely be an upgrade over your i7 6700, but keep in mind it's already about six years old. It should handle streaming pretty well for you, but some folks are upgrading from it while others are still quite happy.

Honestly, it's all about what you think is good enough for your needs. If you're currently on DDR3, you'll need to switch to DDR4 for the 9900K. Also, I wonder what cooler you have now since that could impact your performance too.

I just have a basic cooler from an old office PC, nothing fancy. It's not water-cooled, just a regular fan.
