I'm looking to upgrade from my old EVGA GTX 970, which is still running strong. I've found both the 5060 and the 9060 XT 8GB available for around €300, and I've seen used 4060s going for about €220. Is the 5060 worth it at €300 with its 8GB, especially for 1080p gaming?

If you're sticking to your budget, definitely look into used 5060 Ti's or even an RX 7600. You might find a 7600 XT around €400. If you're willing to go a little over, the 8GB 9060 XT is a solid choice for around €310-€360, or a 4060 Ti if you can swing it.
The 5060 has only 8 PCIe lanes, which could impact performance, especially on older motherboards. If you can stretch your budget, consider the 16GB 9060 XT for better performance with its 16 PCIe lanes.
Keep in mind, there are games where the B580 can outshine the 5060 thanks to its 12GB VRAM. Though in most cases, especially according to Hardware Unboxed's review, the 5060 generally holds up better in average 1080p performance.
