Help! Why is my CPU Running So Hot?

I've had a pre-built PC for a few years now, but recently it's been acting up and slowing down. After checking the diagnostics, I discovered that my CPU is running really hot—around 207°F at idle! I've already cleaned out the dust and applied new thermal paste, which has lowered the temp a bit, but it's still high, sitting between 180°F and 190°F. Did I miss something, or is there more I can do to fix this?

Yeah, high temperatures can be a real pain! You might want to also look into whether your cooler is adequate for your setup. The Ryzen 5 5600X can run hot, especially if it's overclocked. If you're still having issues after reseating your cooler, consider upgrading to a more powerful air or liquid cooler.

It sounds like you've done some good troubleshooting already! Make sure your CPU cooler is properly seated and that the fan is functioning as it should. Also, check if there's adequate airflow in your case. Sometimes, just repositioning fans or adding extra ones can help a lot. If your case allows, consider setting up fan profiles in your BIOS to enhance cooling during heavy loads.
