I'm looking to replace some really old switches in our network setup, which are from Netgear and have been outdated for a while now. We currently use Sophos for our firewall and access points. I'm specifically in need of two 48-port switches that come with PoE and gigabit Ethernet. It's also important that they support 802.1x or other forms of port security, along with VLAN management. Can anyone suggest some good options that would be suitable for a budget-conscious organization?

For small to medium enterprises, I highly recommend UniFi. I've set up most of my SME clients with their products because they're easy to configure and monitor. Just keep in mind that their base model for the 48-port switch offers only 195W of PoE, so if your devices demand more power, you might need to consider a higher-tier model.
I get what you're saying! I've got a UniFi UCG-Max at home, and love it, but without other UniFi gear, it feels a bit off since we won't switch out our router or firewall for UniFi.
