Is It Time to Upgrade from My RTX 3080?

I've been gaming on my MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 since its release, and it was totally worth the wait in line. However, with games getting more demanding after five years, I'm thinking about upgrading. I mainly play Monster Hunter Wilds, and I'm fine with dialing down the graphics for better FPS. But here's the kicker: my girlfriend has an older graphics card, maybe a 1060 or 1070, and she's struggling to keep up. My plan is to buy a new card for myself and pass my 3080 to her to improve her gaming experience.

Given the crazy current pricing for GPUs, I'm not sure if upgrading makes sense right now. If it does, I'd love some recommendations for the best value card. I'm looking for a solid upgrade without going overboard, so while I'm willing to spend a bit more, I think a 5090 might be too much. Would something like the 5070 Ti or 5080 be a good choice? I'd appreciate any advice!

Have you thought about going with AMD instead of NVIDIA? If you don't rely on DLSS or CUDA, a Radeon GPU can give you better value for your money. I got my 7900 XT for about $850 and it's been fantastic!

For a solid upgrade, you might want to check out the 5070 Ti or the 9070 XT. They offer around 45% more performance than your 3080, which is pretty impressive! Just keep in mind that with the current tariffs, the prices are indeed going to be high, but these options seem like they’re worth it for the upgrade you want.

Thank you for the tip! That's really helpful.

No need to upgrade just yet; your 3080 is still a beast of a card. But if you really want better performance, look into the newest models. Just be prepared for those insane prices!
