Is It Time to Upgrade My 3080? What Should I Get?

Hey everyone! I bought my MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 when it first launched and honestly, it was worth the wait. However, 5 years have passed and as games get more demanding, I'm thinking about upgrading. I usually play Monster Hunter Wilds and I'm fine with lowering the graphics for better FPS. But my girlfriend has an older card (maybe a 1060 or 1070) and struggles to play the game. So I figured, why not get a new card for me and give her my 3080? The problem is, the prices for new cards are through the roof right now. I'm wondering if it's really worth upgrading at this stage and what the most cost-effective option would be. I'm looking for a decent upgrade, but I think going all out for a 5090 is too much. Would a 5070 Ti or 5080 be better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, it depends on what you prioritize in your gaming experience. But just a straight 'no' to upgrading from the 3080 might be a good idea if you're satisfied with its performance right now. Just weigh your options carefully!

Have you thought about switching to AMD? If you’re not strictly tied to NVIDIA or using features like DLSS, a Radeon GPU might give you more bang for your buck. I’ve had a 7900 XT for a while, and it’s been fantastic for me. I picked it up for about $850!

I'm open to anything, so that's good to know! I’ll check out some Radeon options!

If you're looking at upgrades right now, the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT are probably your best bets considering the current pricing. They offer around 45% more performance than your 3080, so that should definitely help your gameplay! Just keep an eye on prices since they can fluctuate a lot due to tariffs and demand.
