Help! I Think I Accidentally Deleted My Important Files

So, I'm in a bit of a panic. While deleting some shortcuts from my desktop, I accidentally selected my most important folder. I tried to cancel the deletion as soon as I realized what was happening, but it seems like the files are gone. They've also disappeared from my recycle bin after checking multiple times. Did I lose everything? Where could it have gone? I really need help with this; it's like I'm 80 years old and don't know what I'm doing!

You might still have a chance! If you haven't saved much since the deletion, the data may still be there but marked as deleted. Consider reaching out to a data recovery service; they specialize in retrieving lost files. Just try to power down your machine and avoid using it until then. You want to protect any remaining data.

Do you have any recommendations for good recovery services?

Make sure to double-check for any hidden files. Hit Windows + S and type part of the folder or file name to search. If it's there, it could save you a lot of grief.

I did that already, but unfortunately, nothing came up. This is so frustrating.

First things first, check if you had a backup of your files somewhere. If not, think about whether you were using any file management systems like Dropbox or OneDrive that might have a sync feature. They often keep deleted files for a while. Also, check if your computer uses a file system like btrfs that offers snapshots. If you're still out of luck, make it a priority to set up a backup folder; I had a similar scare in grad school and those services saved me!

Unfortunately, I didn't have any backups. I feel so defeated right now.
