Why are my games lagging after a factory reset?

I recently did a factory reset on my PC to clean things up, but now I'm experiencing significant lag while gaming. Normally, my favorite game has a stable ping of about 55, but after the reset, it's spiking anywhere from 65 to 180. I've checked my internet speed and everything seems fine, plus I have the latest version of AMD Adrenaline and all my drivers are up to date. Did I miss an installation step after the reset? I really want to game this week since I have no school!

You can try resetting your network settings via PowerShell. Open it as an administrator and run these commands:

1. **Netsh winsock reset**
2. **Netsh int ip reset**
3. **Ipconfig /flushdns**

After that, restart your machine and see if your game performance improves. This should reset your network configurations to their default settings, which could help with your lag.

I tried that, but it didn’t fix the lag. It still feels like my internet is having issues, even though speed tests show normal results.

Factory resetting can sometimes cause issues with drivers and settings. A lot of users report that the built-in reset isn't very reliable. You might want to try doing a clean install of Windows instead. It can be a bit more work but usually solves deeper problems like this.

What exactly does a clean install involve?
