Is It Time to Upgrade My PC?

I've had my current PC for 8 years and it's still running fine for most games. However, I notice a drop in performance with newer titles like Elden Ring, where I can only hit around 35 fps. I have a GTX 1070 and a Ryzen 5 1600 currently. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5070 Ti along with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and I want to build a new setup for around $2000. I'm curious if now is a good time to make this upgrade, or if I should hold off for a better opportunity.

It's tough to say whether you should wait. A lot of gamers are holding out for better deals and prices to go down, especially on GPUs like the 5070 Ti, which can be quite high above MSRP right now. If you're only looking for a deal, it might be worth waiting a bit to see if prices drop further. But if you're itching to upgrade for a huge performance boost, maybe go for it!

Yeah, if you can hold on for a bit, that might be smart. I've heard some parts are expected to drop in price soon, so keeping an eye on that could be helpful.

What's your current power supply like? I noticed you mentioned a seasonic 620W, but with a new build, it might be best to upgrade that as well to ensure everything runs smoothly. It's also something to consider in your budget for the build!

I'm planning to get a new PSU with the new build, just thought it was worth mentioning!

Before you buy, think about what your goal is with this upgrade. You ideally want to double or triple your gaming performance, and it can be challenging to get that value right now with the current market conditions. Just remember, there will always be chances to upgrade in the future! Plus, if getting a 5070 Ti brings you joy, then that might be reason enough to go for it despite the cost.
