Need Help Boosting My Fortnite FPS After Building a PC

I built my PC about six months ago, and it was running beautifully on most games. However, I've recently noticed performance issues with Fortnite. I currently have a Ryzen 5 7600X paired with a Radeon 7700XT. Initially, I was consistently getting between 240-360 FPS at 1440 resolution, but now it seems to have dropped to around 180-240 FPS, with fluctuations. I'm not a regular Fortnite player—I've just been playing with my wife, who I also built a PC for—so it's not a huge deal, but I'd love to achieve more stable FPS. Any suggestions?

In online gaming, FPS can fluctuate quite a bit, especially depending on the server and network conditions. But it sounds like your drop is significant. Have you checked for background apps that might be using up resources while you’re gaming? Sometimes they can sneak in and cause lag.

Make sure to check your thermals using HWinfo to see if your CPU or GPU is thermal throttling. It could really affect your performance if they’re overheating. How's your cooling set up?

I'll double-check that, but I've run multiple tests and never seen any overheating issues. Other games seem to run perfectly fine.
