Hey everyone! I just upgraded from an RTX 2070 Super to an RTX 5080, and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the new settings available to me. I'm also using a 9800X3D processor and a Dell monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate and Free Sync. I have a few questions I'd love your help with:
1. Given my refresh rate of 144Hz, is it necessary to limit my frame rate? I'm confused about what FPS I should aim for and if anything above 144 is just wasted.
2. Should I use V-Sync with these settings?
3. Is G-Sync worth it, and how can I enable it? I heard it works with Free Sync, and I'm using DisplayPort.
4. What about Frame Generation? Should I utilize it even with good FPS? How do I know the right multiplier to use?
5. Is Nvidia Reflex something I should always keep on? How does Boost affect it?
6. With my FPS looking good now, is DLSS still worth using? It helped so much on my 2070, but I'm unsure if it's needed now.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

If you're gaming at 144Hz, Frame Generation might not be necessary unless you're struggling to keep up over 60 FPS. Higher multipliers like 3-4 require a high refresh display, so stick to 2x if your base FPS drops. Reflex is usually a good choice for reducing latency.
Just a heads-up, FPS above 144 isn't wasted. Having higher FPS means better frame consistency, which results in smoother motion. V-Sync can introduce input lag, but G-Sync is great for smooth visuals. To enable G-Sync, check the Nvidia Control Panel under display settings.
You should definitely use G-Sync! It syncs your monitor's refresh rate with your GPU's output as long as it’s below the monitor’s max rate, preventing tearing. For your other settings, I recommend just testing them out in-game to see what feels best for you.
Limiting your FPS can help with power and heat management, but it’s not a must. As for DLSS, it’s not essential if you're already getting solid FPS at ultra settings, but it might still be worth experimenting with in visually demanding titles.
