Help! My PC was remotely accessed and now I can’t reset it properly

Hey everyone, I was playing MW2 and suddenly got kicked. It turns out someone took control of my PC and even looked up some questionable sites. After a few hours on a different game, I thought I was in the clear, but when I came back home from work, I noticed my wallpapers had changed and when I tried to reset my PC, it wouldn't work either. It gets stuck at 62% when connected to WiFi. I'm really worried because my PC is quite expensive and I can't believe it got hacked! Any advice on what I should do?

If you're still having trouble with the reset, you might want to prepare fresh Windows installation media using a USB drive from another device. You just need to go into BIOS and set the USB as the primary boot option and install Windows from there. It's a cleaner way to get rid of any lingering issues from the hack.

I actually have a USB from when my friend helped me build my PC. I'll give that a try!

Sounds like you might have experienced a Remote Code Execution (RCed). Have you tried rebooting your PC? Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve some issues, but if you're looking to reset it entirely, you might run into problems doing it from the settings. Just make sure to back up any important files if you can.

Yeah, I looked it up, and that's exactly what happened. I can't seem to reset it from the settings either.
