I'm having a real struggle with my Canon Pixma MX492 printer. It works fine for regular printing, but whenever I try to print photos, it gives me a paper jam error or says I'm out of paper, even though there's paper loaded and nothing is jammed. I really don't want to open up the printer and risk breaking it. Does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong and how I might fix it?

If that's the case, wouldn't that also stop the printer from working altogether? It's strange that it can print normally otherwise, except for photos. I've heard these printers can be finicky, especially with certain browsers like Edge. Have you tried printing from a different program or device? Sometimes that can help.
It sounds like there might be some dirty or malfunctioning sensors in the paper path. You might need to inspect the inside of the printer to check for that. Even though you want to avoid taking it apart, it's sometimes the best way to find out what's wrong.
