Do I Need to Reinstall Windows After Adding More RAM?

I'm currently running a system with a single 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM stick (CL28, 6000MHz) and I've just bought another identical stick to boost my memory. I have two questions: first, do I need to reinstall Windows after I install the second RAM stick? Second, what's the best way to test the RAM performance following the upgrade? Any advice would be really helpful!

No reinstall is necessary after upgrading your RAM. For testing performance, I recommend using stress testing tools like OCCT or y-cruncher. Avoid memtest86 since it doesn't do a good job of finding RAM instabilities.

Adding RAM doesn’t require a Windows reinstall; most hardware upgrades don’t. If you change your motherboard, sometimes you can skip the reinstall, too. For testing, you might want to consider Memtest86, but I think there are better options out there!

To answer your questions: 1. Nope, you don't have to reinstall. 2. I’d go with Memtest86 for checking RAM stability.

You don't need to reinstall Windows when you add more RAM. Just pop the new stick into the correct slot, make sure you enable XMP or DOCP in your BIOS, and you're good to go!
